5 things we love about the HGTV Dream Home 2022

Discover the swoon-worthy design details that make HGTV Dream Home 2022 a relaxing cabin retreat.

When interior designer Brian Patrick Flynn discovered the location for HGTV® Dream Home 2022, he knew that nature would serve as his design inspiration. The two-story cabin-style home is full with artful details that pay tribute to Vermont’s scenic mountain views, such as a nature-inspired green-grey color palette, pops of pattern and fresh air from VELUX Solar-Powered Skylights.

Color accents that pop

This 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home called for bold, but restrained color accents, a palette that would enhance the style of the exterior A-frame while staying true to the nature-inspired design plan. Not only do skylights bring the blue sky inside, Flynn amplifies the effect by painting the ceiling and walls of the upstairs guest bathroom a cerulean blue.

Geometric tile designs

In both the main and guest bathrooms, Flynn elevated the home’s modern interior design with fun geometric tile designs. In the main bathroom, hexagonal tiles in green matching the painted walls adds dimension and a noteworthy focal point. With a nod to Vermont’s luscious green foliage, these eye-catching tiles take the bathroom from plain and simple to sophisticated yet playful.

Fresh mountain air from skylights

Nothing says mountain paradise like breathing in crisp Warren, Vermont air. With VELUX Solar-Powered Fresh Air Skylights with shades installed throughout the home, including the bathrooms and loft, the home not only has stunning views and abundant natural light, but cool breezes.

Location-inspired wall hangings

With an appreciation of Vermont’s ski towns, the blank walls of the home became a blank canvas for Flynn to outfit them with location-inspired decor. The walls of the main bedroom boast a collection of eight pairs of snowshoes, placed in a strategically linear row.

Hitting the same design note, Flynn included a pair of wood skis in the mudroom. Placed horizontally behind two plant-filled white vases, the space honors the beauty of the state’s natural landscape.

Rustic wood accents

At the HGTV Dream Home 2022, Flynn carried the charm of a rustic, Vermont landscape inside and out. Exposed wood beams in the main bedroom, rustic floating shelves in the sitting room and a tongue-and-groove wood ceiling on the lower porch provide warm, natural accents.

The porch includes a mix of wood types and finishes, complemented by a weathered palette of red, white and blue on the furniture The rich combination of details results in a space where the lucky winner of the home can eat, lounge and enjoy the fullness of Vermont’s awe-inspiring mountain landscape.
