I am Mark Horana, owner and president of Horan Building Company in Newport, Rhode Island.

Skylights add a tremendous amount of light.

When you open the skylight, you get a great breeze in three directions, so it’s nice cross-ventilation.

This area has excellent south wind, so it really cools the room and adds a lot of fresh air.

When we designed the house, the skylights, we weren’t really contemplating.

In retrospect now, looking at it finished, it’s hard to imagine this room without them.
