Skylight Innovation

The VELUX Experience

VELUX has been bringing daylight and fresh air into homes for more than 75 years. So, isn't it about time you took part in the VELUX experience?

In certain places around the world, the word "skylights" has become synonymous with the VELUX Group. However, in many more places, the word is still most closely associated with "leaks." But as we've been able to demonstrate with our range of No Leak Skylights, VELUX is changing the narrative around skylights, sun tunnel skylights, and roof windows.

About VELUX

The reason VELUX started, and what drives us forward to this day, is a passion for daylight, fresh air, and better living environments.

Over the past 75 years, VELUX has become the world leader in skylights thanks to our intense focus on creating the best quality, most energy efficient daylighting products available. Through this focus and years of hard work, we've identified the key components necessary for virtually any successful daylighting project, and we've got the skylights (and accessories) to prove it.

What began as a school renovation project in Denmark, where VELUX was founded, has grown into an international group of companies in more than 40 countries. That means every day, millions of people get fresh air and daylight through our skylights, sun tunnel skylights, and roof windows.

Daylight and fresh air: that's the VELUX experience.

The Installation Process

With VELUX skylights, you have the option to find an installer near you or install them yourself. Unless you're an expert, setting up a consultation with an installer and having them take the reins may prove to be the best option.

What should you expect during this consultation? Your VELUX installer will be able to tell you what size skylights and how many would be best for that room and whether deck- or curb-mounted installation would be most efficient.

When the day comes to install your skylight, it'll happen in two parts: rooftop and interior. Depending on your circumstances (roof pitch, interior light shaft specifications, weather, etc.), installation will take between a half day to three days.

On the rooftop, installers will cut a hole and fasten the skylight to your roof with the three layers of protection that are essential to our No Leak Promise. Watch this video to see the rooftop steps in a skylight installation. The interior portion will include drywall and painting, and installers will make every effort to protect your home's interior from dust and other debris.

And voila! You've got a skylight (or two) in your home to enjoy!
