Each VELUX skylight has three layers of water protection:

Deck Seal or Gasket
A deck seal or gasket ensures a tight seal between the skylight and roof on both deck-mounted and curb-mounted skylights.

Underlayment is an adhesive on top of the seal or gasket that provides secondary protection against harsh weather conditions.

Flashing
Flashing is the final layer of protection fitted around the skylight. It will become the first line of defense against water and rain.
